AIA 150 Exhibit
To mark the 150th anniversary of the American Institute of Architects, Alloy designed a traveling exhibit called Hidden in Plain Sight along with a poster and mailer. The exhibit offers a broader view of the region’s architecture by presenting a timeline of 150 architectural acts in Central Virginia from 1857 to the present. The resulting array highlights a greater diversity of architectural languages, voices and ideas than is commonly acknowledged. By revealing overlooked aspects of our surroundings, Hidden in Plain Sight hopes to spark discussion and enrich public understanding about the past and present role of design in our communities as we face questions of growth, quality of life, and the future of Central Virginia.
The first set of images show the exhibit in its original setup at the old CCDC space. The second set show it in the Downtown Transit Center.
